Spirits

Since yesterday, I’ve embarked on a 4-day wedding marathon. 4 full-day weddings from yesterday through to Sunday. In fractional terms, I’ve only completed 3/8ths of my obligations.

Doesn’t really help that some things haven’t been going my way these few days – not in terms of photography but more of issues with album delivery (my first in 3 years…and it’d better be the last!) and other sales stuff. It also left me wondering if I’m sometimes shooting too one-dimensionally. I’m guessing it’s a phase that many photographers will go through – that contemplation of what style is “me”.

Add that to the stress of shooting 4 weddings in 4 days and with some delays in my photo deliveries, I’m feeling a little bit down. I did get a few encouraging emails the past couple of days from clients whom I’m shooting next year – just emails of “popping by to say hi”. Thanks guys for your little notes! :)

I’m hoping that I can settle back into a proper rhythm before back-to-back weddings again next weekend :P …So looking forward to Bali the week after. Really need to spend time with the family, and to shoot beautiful bridals there for a change :).

About time to set off to finish the 4/8th part of this marathon.

  • hi yu hsin,

it’s good to have business, but i think shooting at this kind of pace will lead to burn out, both physically and creatively.

you want a sustainable business which you will still be in love with many years later.

so do take care and have a review after the december madness.
