…that’s <insert groom’s name>’s job from now on. I overheard Sharon’s dad telling her this evening at the end of the banquet.
That really made my heart ache. Letting go is not an easy thing. I sometimes dread the day when I have to say the same words to the girls.
Then it dawned upon me what my style of shooting was, where I see myself going and evolving. I’ve been asked that on countless occasions. It’s about capturing the moments, the joy of the day – but truth be told – it’s really about shooting a wedding the way I would like to see my own daughters’ ones covered. That’s really the way I want to continue shooting and shaping my style.
I think that’s what my identity and direction is. I’m no artist (in the true sense of the word) – just an ordinary joe trying to tell an extraordinary story.
I’m finally back at covering wedding days again after a series of bridal shoots
. I shot Elton and Sharon’s bridals in Bali some time ago. I’ve got to admit that it was a relatively easy shoot this time around, and I managed to shoot a lot of images that I liked. I really think that it’s got a big part to do with the fact that we had a really great time getting to know each other in Bali (I kind of miss those days!). On top of that, I think the fact that the wedding was classy and simple helped to make everyone more relaxed (me included!). I remember the couple of occasions that Sharon (and maybe Elton heh) were quite stressed out with her gown, wedding preparations and work at the hospital but I really saw none of that anxiety yesterday. What I did see was a dashing Elton in his Zegna (I think) tux and a beautiful stunning Sharon in her Tan Yoong gown enjoying their big day at church. It was a really really beautiful wedding and I can only hope that my images somehow managed to capture that spirit
.
I know Sharon reads my blog so here’s a big thanks for everything – from the bird’s nest to the cakes to just being you guys. I’m not good with words – and the only way I can repay that faith is to document these 2 days the best I know how. I really hope you enjoy the pictures!
Here are some of the images from yesterday that I’ve used for the highlights tonight
. Enjoy!
