This is going to be a long post, with lots of images so hang on tight
To be honest, I’ve been looking forward to Will and Valerie’s wedding ever since they signed me a year ago. Don’t get me wrong – I’ve been fortunate that all my couples are wonderful people who appreciate what I do for them but as with all things, there are some who “click” (pardon the pun) more than others. I can’t really place a finger on it, but I’m guessing that the emphasis that Will and Valerie placed on their photography, and the faith they placed in me to deliver must’ve driven me to produce the images that I did on their wedding day.
I was really comfortable with them Will and Valerie albeit we hadn’t gotten to know each other really well. Will is British, and his warm and jovial character made him an instant hit in my books. Valerie, as her cousin described during her speech at dinner, has a good heart. Indeed she does! I can’t start to imagine her even getting slightly ticked off. Her effervescent smile constantly greets you at every corner and her good heart will reach out to you. Jyue Huey, who did her makeup at night, told me something about what Valerie did so that her mother-in-law could get her hair done tells me a lot about that “good heart”. How can you not work a little harder, climb a little higher or run a little faster for folks like that?
So with another amazing bunch of “heng dai” (just like in Gus and Ro’s case), and an equally fiesty bunch of bridesmaids, I experienced one of the funniest gatecrashes, interesting dinners and humourous banter throughout the day. For that, I’m going put up their highlights here on the blog with the banquet images on the next post. Enjoy the slides and images. It is one of those shoots that I exceeded even my own expectations - simply because Will and Valerie, like many of the couples that I’ve worked with, reaffirmed why I do what I chose to do. I’m now more determined to improve my craft, to work harder. Most of all, to shoot with the heart – a good heart, that is.

Hi, I’m Valerie’s cousin. The one who gave the speech during her wedding and mommy of the 2 flower girls. Siu Ming told me about this web-site after he saw my photo.
Yu Hsin, the photos are really very well taken. Every single one is so full of emotions and expressions. Thank you so much.
And I’m really touched by your comments too.
Keep up the good work and more people will benefit from your skillful photography.

We just arrived back from another eventful banquet in Hong Kong. Our first thought was to look at our pics/slideshow because we received so much feedback from family & friends of how great the pics were. Having seen the slideshow, it really triggers our memory and emotions, and bringing back that special moment again…we know its true cos my (Will)tears were coming back again!! It’s true that pics speaks a thousand words. You capture the pics at the right moment which is truly astonishing. You’re simply the best..we’ll have you as our photographer anytime!!!

Hi Val and Will
am disappointed that I can’t be at your HK wedding but hope I can make it for your UK wedding in June. The new chapter of life has just started and whatever issues or obstacles that might cross your path in future…always remember the handprints portrait…you’re never alone…your family will always be there to support you…and friends too. Enjoy the couplehood for now…until Will’s lil tigger dream cometh true. *wink wink*
Yu Hsin..you’ve probably heard tonnes of compliments for your work by now and I wish to add one more to that long list: You’re like a “writer” who can capture moments and translate them into a story that reaches out and warmth the hearts of those who viewed it. A successful “writer” is one who uses the heart to tell the story and from your work…one can tell that you’ve a good heart too. Thank you for bringing joy and fond memories to those viewers!

thank you, thank you everyone for such kind comments. I’m glad that in my small little ways, I was able to document Will and Valerie’s (and many other couples’) wedding day. As I always tell the couples I work with – it is them and their friends/families that define the day. I just click the shutter release button on the camera
