A Tale of Two Cakes

I was going to blog about this on Christmas day, but with all the hectic last minute packing for the Perth trip, and an equally busy (read tiring!) first day yesterday in Perth, I am only writing this post now.

It’s been a fabulous year for me to say the least. In a year that had so much going, I was really happy that I managed to survive and enjoy it! I had some really wonderful clients this year, and was pleasantly surprised with the cakes I’ve gotten from some of them this Christmas (which prompted me to write this post!) – not only the cakes, but also the thank you notes, the SMSes, the champagnes, chocolates, hand-crafted cards and every little thought that counted. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank my couples – you’re the real stars! I feel humbled, to say the least.

The wedding season ended for me with some more great news – I had been placed 1st in WPJA’s 3rd quarter competition in the Creative Portrait category – from a shoot I did with Chong and Eileen, and also a 10th placing in the Emotion category – from Brandon and Samantha’s wedding day. It’s the first time I’ve gotten 2 top tens in 1 competition. I’ve always held the belief that competitions are about being at the right place, at the right time and with the right judges. I guess my stars aligned for a short while this quarter;).

I’d also like to thank the guys at WPN for yet another wonderful year. These are some of the best in the industry right here in Singapore – people that I look up to when in comes to matters of the industry, and more importantly people that inspire me to push myself harder everyday. We’ve got some amazing talent here that can easily equal wedding photographers in more established countries. Hopefully, clients will continue to see wedding photographers here as artists and not cameramen (or women)!

It’s also been a year of working with some other amazing talents in this industry. From bands to gown designers, florists to makeup artists, videographers to makeup artists, and certainly my awesome associates – there are so many people to thank. If anyone of you reads this, just know that you guys are the best!

On the personal front, I’ve been blessed with wonderful friends and family who have been tremendous in their own ways. Thanks guys, for always being there to help, and for lending me your ears when I’ve been down. The most important person that has been there for me from the beginning is the wifey – thanks for the unwavering support and for believing in what I do:).

So, as we soldier on to 2010, exciting times are in store! Tinydot itself is going to undergo some transformation that will hopefully make us even stronger and better. You’ll probably start to see us more online, in bridal shows, in print and hopefully on TV again (hah!). Stay tuned!

So what is it about the cakes again? I don’t know – but I’m hoping to have it, and eat it at the same time next year;).

Have a great 2010!
