Barry, Shanna-mae and I met almost a year before their actual wedding day. Right after they left the studio, I thought to myself “Wow, I hope I get to shoot their wedding”. We had so much to chat about as we found common musical interests in dub step and trance like Myon & Shane 54 and Above & Beyond.
And it was with great joy, when almost 12 months later we were together again at the couples’ wedding.
The couple’s solemnisation mass was held at the Church of St Vincent de Paul, where close friends surprised the couple with a song after their vow exchange. The couple were also showered with thousands of little cupid-shaped confetti, which were painstaking die-cut by an aunt.
We took time before dinner to photograph some portraits around the Grand Copthorne Waterfront. Dinner was an eventful evening with touching speeches and an animated Barry as the champagne cork flew across the ballroom and narrowly whacked a close friend on the head. Well into the night our meeting from 12 months before came full circle – as Barry and Shann’s friends who were DJs filled the ballroom with some trance.
Sometime after their wedding I read on the couples’ Facebook accounts, a quote which I have grown to love -
“You keep my grounded, yet because of you, I am always flying”.
