Ben and Paurene’s Bridals in Melbourne

Where do I even start? Ben and Paurene are so awesome that I’m literally at a loss for words – but I’m gonna try anyway. I shot their bridals in Melbourne early last week. We had so much fun, despite the horrible and unpredictable weather, that I still miss the trip even though it’s been 2 weddings and another bridals since. I’m really thankful for the great food (Ben and Paurene are really foodies!) and even greater company that included Paurene’s cousins . Paurene was so naturally giggly and relaxed in front of the camera and Ben absolutely cracked me up with some witty one-liners! I’m really looking forward to shooting their wedding day but in the mean time, here are some images from this amazing shoot. Kelvin and Yan Lin’s Bridals in Perth

I couldn’t wait to share this set of images because, like the other couples that I’ve shot in Perth, it’s been yet another exciting and very fulfilling journey for me. Kelvin and Yan Lin reminded me a lot of Kevin and Cynthia. Easy-going, fun-loving and always willing to try new things. They also treated me and the makeup artist so very well – the best of food, offering to drive everywhere and even sending and picking us up from the airport. Thank you very much guys – you totally deserve a good break after exhausting yourselves for the shoot. It may not have been the best of weather but you braved it all throughout. It’s been an honour and privilege for me to have been behind the camera. Here are some images from their shoot. As a break from my norm, I’ve posted 50 images from their shoot on facebook..that’s how much fun we had!

Enjoyed myself here very much here besides the shooting. It was nice catching up with friends. Xiangwen – thanks so much for showing me there’s actually good Chinese food in Paris…see you at your wedding in July! Besides, what better place to spend the week than in a land where 1 in every 3 drivers have the same exquisite taste as me .

Brisbane with Aaron and Joycelyn

To be frank, I’ve never had a shoot rain out on me whilst shooting overseas – that’s really the reason why I normally try to leave 2 days for a shoot so that I have some form of backup should inclement weather prevents us from shooting. Normally, rain, if any, will come and go and we can play hide-and-seek with the weather but this time round, it rained non-stop on our first day in Brisbane with Aaron and Joycelyn. It was truly a tough shoot, and my camera equipment got all wet and mucky. Fortunately for us, the 2nd day was amazingly bright and sunny!

Despite all of that, I had a wonderful couple in the form of Aaron and Joycelyn. Never have I seen a couple so willing to brave the elements and the gowns(!) to get the shoot going. Most of the time, they would be literally shooting in the rain. My hat really goes off to them. I realised halfway through that no matter how tough the shoot went, I owed it to them to make sure that we would get images that they will cherish. Thanks guys – for being so commited, and also for some great Vietnamese food!

Kia ora From New Zealand

I just got back to from Queenstown after finishing Edmund and Dawn’s shoot. It’s been a tiring day – I literally fell asleep the entire flight back here to Christchurch. What a shoot it has been! I think the words amazing or unbelievable understates the fun and “work” that we’ve had the past 2 days. I’m truly humbled by the dedication and hard work that couples put into their shoots. Like many past couples that I have shot for, Edmund and Dawn personify these qualities. At the same time, we had such a good time chatting, eating (and occasionally) dozing off in the car on the long drives heh. I’ve not met many people who really know how to have so much fun on a holiday! Don’t play too hard on the rest of your trip guys!

I’m going to miss this shoot, and of course, New Zealand. This is a country with beautiful landscapes. I’ve always held it in high regard, given that landscapes and travel photography has always been my passion. But it was only during this shoot that I realised that it’s equally capable of providing a remarkable backdrop for bridal photography. There are so many images from this shoot that I’m excited about. In fact, whilst back here in the hotel, I was trying to pick out 10 to post on this blog but ended up with more than 60! So here goes 20 of them (I’m keeping the rest as a surprise ) – be warned, it’s 2 image intensive posts!

Kevin and Cynthia in Perth

I spent a couple of days last week in Perth amidst the crazy September wedding season. Initially, I was a little worried that it would take 4 precious days away from all the editing that was waiting for me to do. Boy, was I wrong – yes it did the 4 precious days away – but I had such a great time shooting Kevin and Cynthia that those worries were behind me from the time we landed. Kevin and Cynthia are quite the opposites – Kevin is so full of energy (he drove 3.5 hours to and another 3.5 hours back from Margaret River all by himself – imagine!) and Cynthia is the strong and silent one who does everything without complaints. Despite the cold and dreary weather, they just got on with the shoot like a bunch of eager beavers . Thanks guys for a great time in Perth guys, and I’m looking forward to your wedding day!

Of Whites and Blues

I’ve finally managed to get internet access in Athens. It’s been an extremely enjoyable shoot at Santorini. The colours and textures were amazing – and so were Mike and Erin whom I shot! Definitely a photographer’s dream come true . We had a good time chatting about travels and I even got to become a witness at their solemnisation here in Greece!

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous too although I’ve gotten quite sunburnt. You don’t really feel the sun because it’s so windy and cool. I think I got burnt more from sitting in the sun, enjoying ice-cream and the caldera than from shooting itself heh!

It’s also been great that the girls and mommy came along for the trip. Kids are a rarity in Santorini so we got loads of good treatment everywhere . It’d have been really boring without them around. We’re now at the last leg of travels in Athens. Thanks to my bro, we’re getting to stay at the glitzy Mariott in Athens – it’s an amazingly luxurious hotel and we even managed to wing an executive club room with free access to the club lounge! Today, it’ll be a visit to the Acropolis, Parthenon, Panathinaikon Stadium and maybe a kids museum. They all seem quite close to where we’re staying . Till then…enjoy the Santorini pictures!
